I have been prisoned twice in Libya : in Bayda (Cyrenaica) and in Sabratah. I was in prison for a total of 4 months. In the two prisons, we had very little to eat and drink, we could not wash, we lived and slept stuck to each other. When they saw that we had no money to pay, they started taking us to work. We did everything: we worked in the fields, with rifles, or kneading the construction sand with our hands. One day a friend who was with me said he was tired, that he would not come to work because he could not do it any longer. The Libyan who controlled us threatened to kill him but my friend did not believe him. He killed him in front of my eyes with a shotgun.
Testimony was gathered in Rome at the MEDU Mobile Clinic, October 2017
